Skydive Arena in Prague

I was memorized and could hardly believe my eyes. You never know nowadays ( click here to see how one Japanese celeb was just outed as totally CGI).

Check it out, funky tunes and all.

Jquery: Lavalamp Menu

Jquery: Lavalamp Menu

Yes there is a fancy new sliding bar in my top menu. I have been pumping out more and more web work in the last 6 months and begun getting more involved with javascript and jquery. So expect to see more web related blog posts by me in the future.

After seeing a blog post tutorial on the effect known as lavalamp, I had to dive in, simplify it so it looked a little more clean and professional, and implement it on my site.

As a designer I really hate graphical, animated, or flash on a page that doesn't contribute something to either the formatting (making things easier to read or navigate) or user interface. I hope you'll agree that it isn't too flashy or bothersome.

Google Images: Reverse Look Up

Google Images: Reverse Look Up

Google Images has very recently added a cool new feature. It's actually only new for them, as I believe they just outright bought the technology from TinEye... a reverse look up for images.

Firstly, you use it by dragging an existing image from your computer right on top of the Google Images search bar. When you do this the area turns green and suggests you drop the file there. Easy.

Now, why would you need this? Well for me, I'm regularly receiving images for t-shirts, posters, etc. that are about the size of a postage stamp, and the client asks, "Can you construct a file for me so I can print it out 12 inches across?"

Well because there is really no miraculous way (though there are tricks) to "up-size" a raster graphic, sometimes I can find the original or larger version of the graphic the client sent to me by using the image look-up. That's just one way I use the reverse look-up service. Nice going Google!

If you never read about attaching files to your gmail emails, you need to read this blog post I did months ago.

Shaw Internet Bandwidth: Update Yet Again

I guess in the game of internet bandwidth there will always be "new" news. This month it's some good news.

Shaw has upped their bandwidth usage on all their packages. For my package called Extreme, my monthly data cap has gone from 100GB to 250GB. That's a substantial increase!

You'd have to look it up yourselves, but I believe they also increased the up/down speed in the last weeks too.

Might be time to get yourself that new 2TB (great brand name) hard drive for less than $70CAD. Check that here: link

Want it in an external case and an even better brand name? It's here for under $100: link

The new Shaw caps, and other plan info, can be seen here: link

Adobe CS 5.5 - Some Interesting News

Here's a little news about the newly released Adobe CS 5.5. The video actually does put forth some helpful info, though for myself I don't see the new 5.5 as "needed".

I won't go into all the pros and cons for such a release now, but there are lots of words thrown around like HTML5, portable, Android, devices, screen, AnyScreen, iPad, Blackberry, iOS... and the BIG ONE... Product Rentals.

Yes, product rentals. Initial "rental" rates are as follows in USD (to be available in the next 30 days: Adobe Photoshop: “As little” as $35/month; Design Premium: $95/month; Master Collection: $129/month.

Whoa. My briefest comment: I suppose the upgrade value would be best determined as to how you are using your current Adobe products.
